Catholic Charities North Star Youth Partnership Receives Jewish Community Foundation Grant

PRESCOTT, Ariz. (August 26, 2022): Catholic Charities’ North Star Youth Partnership has received a $5,000 grant award for Teens’ Closet from the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Prescott via its 2022 Grant Cycle.

Teens’ Closet, located on the campus of Taylor Hicks Elementary School, fills an important gap in services by providing clothing, as well as skill building, to teens. Support skills range from goal setting, connecting teens to part-time jobs, job interview tips and resume writing – all to help teens shape a bright future and break the cycle of poverty.

The $5,000 donation will help the program with inventory including coats, shoes, jeans and specialty items such as athletic gear for school sports or career wear for employment and interviews.

The Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Prescott was founded in 1998 by a group of determined and dedicated Jewish leaders with a vision to establish the Foundation. The Foundation provides funding to agencies and organizations that meet the basic needs of the less fortunate, as well as projects and initiatives that benefit the community, the state, and in some cases, our nation.

“The Jewish Community and our Foundation represents a small part of our community, but our hearts are large. As the Executive Director I am humbled to ensure that our donor’s legacies are honored, therefore diligent efforts are made to research organizations which receive grants. Catholic Charities/Teen’s Closet is one of our community's amazing organizations that provide services to our youth that make a difference. Their efforts have changed the future of many, and we consider them one of the community’s champions for change,” said Christine Resnick.

Last year, Teens’ Closet served over 200 teen clients from 15 different communities. A team of six volunteers also donated about 150 hours to assist the teens.

“We are grateful to the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Prescott and their generous donation to help us provide valuable services to teens,” said Teens’ Closet Supervisor Krystal Koons.
