Bethany Durham has a bachelor’s degree in Communication and a passion for storytelling. Her writing for Catholic Charities has included blogs, newspaper and magazine articles. She enjoys telling client stories in a way that captures the humanity and emotions of those she writes about. When she’s not working, Bethany loves to spend time with her two cats, hike and sing karaoke.

Loving unconditionally may be a struggle for humans, but it comes naturally to animals. Animals view love as something all living beings deserve rather than an earned privilege.

Catholic Charities knows its volunteers are an essential resource and strives to show gratitude to all who contribute their time. That’s why Catholic Charities is honored to receive the Service Enterprise Initiative Certification by ASU Lodestar Center, Association of Leaders in Volunteer Engagement (ALIVE) and Points of Light.

Funds from Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust are already changing lives for Joining Hearts and Head Start clients and residents in affordable housing communities developed by Housing for Hope, an affiliate of Catholic Charities.

Those who work at nonprofits have a sense of empathy and compassion that doesn’t cease when they clock out for the day. The desire to serve others is part of who they are and is engrained in their everyday lives. This couldn’t be more accurate for Kristy Enricco, Catholic Charities Property Specialist at Verde Villas Apartments in Phoenix.

For those who spend a long period of time incarcerated, getting reacquainted with the outside world can be overwhelming. They may not have family or friends to support them, a job to earn money, or a place to live while they start over.
